About Dr. Hess
Melaina Hess is a Valedictorian graduate of DuQuoin High School (2014) and earned her undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University (2017), graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA. She went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Hess is an active member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, American Academy of Facial Esthetics and the American Association of Women Dentists, and currently serves as a member of the Randolph County Board of Health.
Dr. Hess’s clinical interests include comprehensive general dentistry with a focus on dentures and partials, both simple and surgical extractions, composite fillings, crowns, and root canal therapy. She is certified in Invisalign as well as Botox and facial cosmetic treatments, allowing her to offer both functional and esthetic solutions for her patients. Dr. Hess also enjoys treating pediatric patients and is committed to providing comfortable, high-quality care for patients of all ages.
Dr. Hess’s greatest joy in being a dentist is caring for others and forming meaningful, lasting relationships with her patients. She values being a trusted part of their lives as they grow and transition through important milestones—from adolescence and school years to graduation, college, marriage, starting families, and all of life’s exciting moments in between. Providing compassionate care while supporting patients through each stage of life is what makes dentistry especially rewarding for Dr. Hess.
While Dr. Hess takes great pride in her professional achievements, her greatest pride and joy is her family—her husband, Kyle, who supported her throughout her entire education, and their two beautiful daughters, Myla Pearl (5) and Kylaina Rose (3).
Dr. Hess is proud to be a part of Southern Illinois. Born and raised in the area in a farming family, she feels deeply connected to the community and the values it represents. She enjoys caring for patients who are much like herself and feels truly at home serving the small-town community. Dr. Hess loves building lasting relationships, treating entire families, and forming genuine connections with her patients. One of her favorite moments is seeing groups of patients together in public and realizing they are related—a reminder of the close-knit community she serves. She treats her patients not just as patients, but as friends.
